Chronic Pain & Stress Relief in Portland

Restorative massage that effectively leaves your body feeling lighter and freer from the aches and strains of daily life.

Massage is something I think people often put into two categories- an occasional pampering or as a treatment for acute pain or discomfort.  But the true benefit of massage comes in the form of regular maintenance.  Massage is something that helps promote longevity as we age and our bodies change.  Routine massages help keep our body mobile, flexible, and more resilient to the aches and strains of regular life, not just the big moments when something goes wrong.

A good massage can help relieve that sharp crick in your neck or that burning feeling in your shoulders.  But massage is most effective at helping to keep those things at bay by providing regular support to your muscles, tissues, and joints so they remain fluid enough to sit for hours in a shrimp position while you work on your latest craft, spend the weekend bent over in the garden pulling weeds, or deal with the everyday stresses of being a human in today’s world.  It’s not a cure all, but a tool that greatly helps to keep you going for the long term and not be derailed by one bad night of sleep or one activity too many.

Massage is extremely beneficial in helping alleviate:

  • neck and shoulder tension

  • hip and low-back pain

  • headaches, migraines, and jaw issues like TMJ

  • stiffness and immobility in limbs, torso, and joints

  • plantar fasciitis and calf cramping

  • GI issues associated with IBS, SIBO, Crohn’s disease and more

  • general fatigue and muscle soreness

Hi, I’m Kate

I offer restorative massage, combining therapeutic and relaxation techniques to increase mobility, soothe muscle tension, and create a sense of ease and calm within the body.

I blend Deep Tissue, Myofascial, Thai, Craniosacral, Swedish, and Chi Nei Tsang techniques to provide a unique body work experience that is tailored to every client and their specific wants and needs.

I know what it’s like to have pain disrupt your life and effect the way you move and interact with the world. Just like most people, I’ve experienced set-backs from chronic diseases, broken bones, surgeries, mystery pains, and stress and anxiety. I want to understand my client’s needs and address their body’s issues head on in a way that is both therapeutically effective and highly relaxing so they can fully embrace and accept the work we’re doing together.

I love building lasting relationships with clients, seeing them through good and bad times, and helping to keep their body moving as we age together.  When I massage, I am always thinking about creating space- space in the muscles and fascia, space between tissue and bone, space for the mind to empty and be free from responsibilities, space to have a moment just for you.  Creating that space for my clients in the massage room, a space just for them and their needs, is something I genuinely enjoy and take great pride in.
